📜 Notary's Authority, Jurisdiction & Restrictions

At Mode De Vie Professional Notary Services, I operate in full compliance with the laws governing Notaries Public in the State of Maryland.


✅ Authorized Jurisdiction

  • A commissioned Maryland Notary Public may perform notarial acts anywhere within the State of Maryland, including all counties and the City of Baltimore.
     

❌ Jurisdictional Restrictions

  • A Maryland Notary Public may not perform notarial acts in any other state or the District of Columbia.
     
  • The notary must be physically present within the State of Maryland when performing any notarial act.
     

🌐 Out-of-State Notaries

  • A notary commissioned in another state may not perform notarial acts in Maryland, unless they also hold a valid Maryland notary commission.

✍️ Authorized Notarial Acts

As a Commissioned Notary Public in the State of Maryland, I am authorized to perform the following official acts:

  • Acknowledgments
    Verify a signer’s identity and willingness to sign a record voluntarily.
     
  • Verifications on Oath or Affirmation
    Administer an oath or affirmation to confirm the truthfulness of a statement.
     
  • Signature Witnessing or Attestation
    Observe the signer execute a document and attest to the act.
     
  • Copy Certifications
    Certify or attest that a copy of an original record or item is true and complete.
     
  • Certification of Tangible Copies of Electronic Records
    Confirm that a paper (tangible) version of an electronic document is a true and accurate copy.
     

Each notarial act must comply with Maryland state laws and includes proper identification and documentation procedures.

📝 The Notarization Process

At Mode De Vie Professional Notary Services, each notarization is conducted with accuracy, integrity, and in full compliance with Maryland law. Here's what to expect during the process:


  1. Personal Appearance Required
    The document signer(s) must appear in person before the Notary Public.
     
  2. Identity Verification
    Each signer must present valid, acceptable identification (e.g., government-issued photo ID).
     
  3. Notarial Journal Entry
    The Notary records the key details of the notarization in a secure notary journal for legal documentation.
     
  4. Execution of the Document
    Depending on the type of notarial act: 
    • The Notary may witness the signature 
    • The Notary may administer an oath or affirmation
       

  1. Completion of Notarial Certificate
    The Notary will fill out and sign the appropriate notarial certificate, either preprinted on the document or attached as a loose certificate.
     
  2. Final Certification
    The Notary will: 
    • Sign and date the certificate 
    • Affix the official notary seal 
    • Include the notary commission expiration date

💵 Charges & Fees

At Mode De Vie Professional Notary Services, I strive to offer fair and transparent pricing for all notarial services. 


Below is a general breakdown of fees:


Standard Notarial Service Fees

  • General and Electronic Notarization: $8 per original notarial act (per Maryland state guidelines) 
  • Remote Notarization: $30 per original notarial act (per Maryland state guidelines) 
  • Additional Signatures:   

  1. $8 for notarizing each signature on the original or first copy of the record. 
  2. $4 for each signature on each additional copy of the same record. 

  • Additional Notary Services:   

  1. $2 for each photocopy of a notarial.
  2. $6 for certifying a copy of a record.
     

Specialty Documents & Services

  • Power of Attorney / Wills / Trusts: $4–$10 depending on complexity
  • Affidavits / Acknowledgments / Jurats: $4–$10 depending on complexity
  • Vehicle Title Transfers: $10 
  • Signature Witnessing: $10 
  • Passport Application Forms (DS-3053, etc.): $10


Mobile Notary Service Travel Fees

  • Travel Fee: $5 for travel if required, plus $0.70 (current IRS rate) per mile from Waldorf, MD 20601. 

Mobile fees are in addition to standard notarization charges.

Notarization, mileage and administrative fees are charged as regulated by the State of Maryland and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
